It appears the next Assassin’s Creed game may be a swashbuckling adventure with pirates. The newest reports show that the game may be called Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Today, Kotaku appears to have uncovered precisely where that game will be set and what it will be called.
A photo of a poster has been leaked. This poster is set to run in game stores this coming Monday, March 4. The poster, illustrated by Todd McFarlane, clearly showcases a new assassin in a pirate-themed era. This also lines up with the rumors from earlier this year, suggesting Ubisoft’s time-spanning saga would be moving to the Caribbean.
If Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is indeed real and takes place on the high seas, it will not be a first for the series. Last year’s Assassin’s Creed III featured various naval missions where players battled enemy ships.
All eyes are on Microsoft after last week’s announcement by Sony that the PS4 will be here this year, and we may not have to wait long for their response. It may come as soon as April, a full two months before the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. One senior Sony official, who did not wish to be named, claimed Sony had “ruffled some feathers” at Microsoft with its next-gen pitch and was another to lend his voice to the possibility of an April announcement.
The specs of both systems have already been announced (or leaked in the case of Xbox), and it looks to be a good console battle. Although there is much speculation, the actual name of the Xbox console is still a mystery. Infinity and 720 have both been floated as the front runners, but it’s possible that Microsoft will go a different direction.
If Microsoft does unveil the next-generation Xbox in April, it is highly unlikely that we’d see a repeat of the hardware no show that overshadowed Sony’s launch event. In fact, right after the PS4 event, Microsoft’s director of programming for Xbox Live Larry Helb mocked Sony for not showcasing the goods.
He tweeted: “Announce a console without actually showing a console? That’s one approach”
On Friday PlayStation’s US boss Jack Tretton assured that the physical incarnation of the PS4 will be showcased at E3 or sooner. Could it be timed to coincide with Microsoft’s big reveal? The battle heats up.
With Sony’s announcement of the PS4, and the resulting fervor that has accompanied the announcement, we are left to question, do we really care? Well, Sony has revealed some tantalizing details about the hardware specs, along with some amazing software features that the new console will have. For all the hype surrounding the launch, there is still a shroud of mystery around the PS4. We STILL don’t know what it looks like, but we we do know it’s coming out in time for Christmas, we know about the DualShock 4 controller and we’ve seen the new interface and a lot of the features it delivers.
I’m really sad that I only just discovered this book. Written by Earnest Cline and released late 2011, once I picked it up I didn’t put it down. I admit to being a bit of a geek at heart, and although I’ve never played Dungeons & Dragons, I have logged my fair share of time playing World of Warcraft. This book draws you into a world where World of Warcraft really exists (among other virtual reality worlds), and the citizens of said world live inside their virtual world more than the real one. It is a must read for any child of the 80’s, Gamer (RPG or Video), movie geek, or person with a pulse. Should you pick up the audio book, it is read by non-other than Wil Wheaton of Star Trek and Big Bang Theory fame. Read more
Men’s Confidence Magazine has added a new gaming section to the magazine, and I can’t think of a better way to kick off the section than with smokin’ hot girls. Most guys assume that it’s an all male club, and that if a girl plays, shes probably ugly. Well stop assuming boys… we’ve compiled a list of who MCM thinks are the HOTTEST girls to ever grace World of Warcraft. Read more
